These are very good. I didn't have cayenne, so used powdered chipotle instead -- it does sneak up, but not frightenly so, just nice. I'm going to try the lime version with chipotle -- & I think lemon might be good with basic chili powder, also with cracked black pepper (like lemon/pepper pasta). Maybe sprinkle some lemon sugar on top? Many thanks for all this inspiration!

[...] So the meaning behind all of this drivel is my New Year’s (er, March) Resolution to make at least one new recipe each week. And these recipes must come from my own cluttered stockpile of rarely (read: never) used recipes so that the end goal is eating (of course) and also weeding out the clutter. So, I get two resolutions in one: cooking and de-cluttering. And so far I’ve only missed 2 weeks due to travel. This isn’t a cooking blog (at least not yet), so I don’t plan on posting the recipes or results each week (unless they make a particularly good story like the time I made pepper/maple bacon twists and it set off the alarm TEN times in my building. Did I mention how much my neighbors love me?). Speaking of bacon, I do have to post this recipe for “breakfast cookies” that I made recently because it’s a COOKIE made with BACON. Made yoru Pesto cookies for the NYE party this weekend. They are so good. A great alternative to the holiday "sweet" cookies! I will be making these again. Can't wait to see what you cook up next,

Hi Kelly,

I recently baked a batch of these cookies for a cookie exchange at work. (Un)fortunately, I had to bake more, because my wife and I enjoyed them so much! For the second batch, I substituted lime for the lemon and the reviews were the same: excellent! We loved how the cookies had a refreshing taste to start, then ended with a noticeable kick from the cayenne.

I've been asked for the recipe and will definitely refer people to your site's collection of "GrownUp" cookies. I can't wait to try some of the others that are listed!

Cheers,

Jamie

Thanks Cynthia!
Any comments or questions on recipes are welcomed and appreciated. I'm glad you like the cookie, it's so interesting how the cayenne reacts. Fun.
Thanks again, Kelly

If I have a nice, fresh Bosc pear I use light. If I have a different pear that offers a little less flavor, I use the dark. These cookies taste great. I like to use the candied or crystallized ginger available in bags rather than in a spice bottle.
Thanks Dora! Kelly
